At our meeting on 27 March Nadine Kilmister, Director, Office of the Chief Executive at the Ministry of Social Development will be joining us to talk about the profile and perception of the EA to CE role and the positioning and future proofing of the Executive Assistant.
Nadine has worked in the public service for more than 20 years in communications, events, strategy, media, campaigns and everything in-between. She is also a champion for women’s professional development and gender pay equity. Having worked with a lot of EAs, Nadine understands the role and has helped many with development strategies and career progression.
As advocates and leaders of our profession, how much do we want to get involved in owning the fate of the role, its destiny and how its future is shaped? We have asked Nadine to come and speak to us to generate discussion amongst the membership on this topic. This is our profession, we are the experts and yet we leave it to others to decide the skill requirements, pay bands and our future direction. Rather than leaving it to others, how much should PACE engage in driving the direction, future and sustainability of the role?
Nadine will talk with us about the development of an Executive Assistant Framework. This would be a valuable tool to clearly identify the varying skill levels of the EA role, the REM bands, progression and professional development pathways. Not only could this be useful for those recruiting an EA (to ensure they recruit at the correct level to match their requirements), but also for EAs looking at their own career progression, helping them identify areas they need to develop to move up levels.
Come along and get involved in this discussion. How far would you like to see PACE’s involvement in advocating, lobbying and the development of an EA Framework? We can be the masters of our own destiny, positioning our profession and full proofing it for the future and setting the framework for those that follow.
